Our Story

Voxa is a scientific instrument company focused on nanoscale measurement and analysis. Our equipment can be found on the International Space Station, in major universities, government laboratories where it is used by scientists, engineers, educators and researchers.

Voxa was founded in 2012 through the research and development of Dr. Christopher Own. As chief scientist and founder, Dr. Own has more than two decades of experience in scientific instrumentation with a focus in electron microscopy (EM), materials science, biology, and chemistry.

Through their experience and talents, Dr. Own and the Voxa team have crafted nanotechnology solutions for the company’s three product families.

 Voxa Blade™

The Voxa Blade™ is a customizable ultra-high-throughput imaging pipeline that enables the automation and scaling of nano-scale electron-optical imaging. Blade eliminates manual operation and limited data retrieval constraints to allow for a rapid and effective process for charting the full nano-scale detail of our world.

In much the same way that improved satellites enabled us to effortlessly map the full macro surface of our world, Blade’s increases image acquisition speed of nano-image samples by a factor of millions over the traditional, manual approach.

 Mochii™

Voxa's award-winning Mochii "S" is the world's first field-portable electron microscope, able to take sophisticated laboratory analyses including chemical identification into new and extreme environments, including outer space.

Because of its size, ruggedness, capabilities, and versatility Mochii has been adopted by the International Space Station to help detect crew and vehicle mission threats, and perform novel microgravity science, and is the first instrument of its kind in space. Mochii will serve as part of the backbone of services as part of the ISS National Laboratory and is a research platform for exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
